Beth Devakul Clark is a dedicated mother, wife, teacher, and UTLA Steering Committee Leader.
This is Beth’s 22nd year teaching, as a long term substitute teacher for grades TK-8th grade for 11 years and another 11 as a full-time elementary teacher. She understands firsthand the challenges our members face. Beth is passionate about social and racial justice. She creates safe spaces for all UTLA members and builds unity to protect our schools and community members. She continues to listen to, represent and fight for the rights of all of her members.
Beth serves on all of the following UTLA positions: UTLA Bargaining Team, Steering Committee, House of Reps, and House Rules Committee (the governing body for House of Reps). Through these positions including Bargaining, she has been able to help propel success in our contract fights and all members’ rights. Through Steering Committee, Beth responds within 24 hours to the ten schools she supports and has a resolution or plan within the week.
As Chapter Chair at her school site, Beth launched their first Local School Leadership Counsel where she continues to serve. Under her leadership, She initiated a robust year-round music program that serves all grades TK-5th at her campus. Beth also spearheaded a beautification project, which is transforming green spaces and their school gardens. Beth led the way in partnering with their local EEC, labor partners, and community to build capacity in union organizing efforts.
Beth would be honored to serve, support, and fight for you as your West Area NEA Board of Directors member.
